Privacy Policy

GridPermit is an independent educational resource for U.S. solar permitting research, with a separate California-only illustrative solar and battery calculator. The calculator does not require you to provide a name, email address, or phone number.

Calculator Inputs

Calculator inputs such as a 5-digit ZIP code and monthly utility spend are processed in your browser to produce the illustrative estimate. GridPermit's analytics event helper is designed to strip ZIP codes, bill amounts, names, email addresses, phone numbers, and addresses from event parameters before an event can be sent.

Analytics

GridPermit uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage and interactions, such as page views and selected on-site events. Google Analytics may process technical and usage information and may use cookies or similar technologies according to Google's own practices. GridPermit does not intentionally send calculator ZIP codes, bill amounts, names, email addresses, phone numbers, or street addresses as analytics event parameters.

Referral Attribution

When GridPermit offers a tracked referral link to a third-party partner, GridPermit may generate a random referral identifier for the outbound click. The identifier is designed not to contain your name, email address, phone number, street address, ZIP code, utility bill amount, or other information you enter on GridPermit. The referral identifier may be included in the partner URL and recorded with GridPermit's click analytics so partner reports can be reconciled to the originating referral click. Any information you later provide directly to the partner is handled under that partner's own privacy policy and data practices.

Third-Party Links

GridPermit links to third-party websites, including solar marketplaces and product providers. Those services operate under their own privacy policies and data practices. GridPermit does not control how a third-party site handles information after you leave GridPermit.
