New applications and waitlist applications for ratepayer-funded SGIP budgets closed on December 30, 2025. New AB 209 applications have a June 30, 2028 deadline. The 2026 SGIP rate table publishes $3.10/W for solar and $1.10/Wh for storage in applicable Residential Solar and Storage Equity categories. Household eligibility and live budget availability vary by category and program administrator; check the official Program Metrics tracker before relying on an incentive.

Checked on the City's own pages 2026-10-24. No flat solar permit fee is published; the City says SJPermits.org presents the fee at application. PG&E interconnection fees are separate and not recorded here.

  • City permit issuance fee (online permits): amount not verified ($211 per hour of processing time, or the scheduled amount if greater; minimum for permits issued through the Online Permits service is 50% of the specified processing fee)

    FY 2026-27 Building Division Fee Schedule, effective August 10, 2026. The schedule has no solar-specific issuance amount for single-family homes; SJPermits.org shows the actual fee when you apply.

  • City electrical permit (inspection) fee: amount not verified (greater of $315 per hour of required inspection time or the itemized amount; Photovoltaic System (Single Family) is listed with a 60-minute minimum and 50 minutes per unit)

    Charged in addition to the permit issuance fee, per the fee schedule. A separate structural building permit fee for PV is not itemized in the residential tables and was not determined.

  • City plan review (Standard Plan Review only): amount not verified ($325 per hour or the scheduled amount if greater)

    Applies to projects that do not qualify for the online SJPermits path. Credit card payments carry a 2.66% third-party fee.

San Jose Clean Energy's own Terms and Conditions page states: 'San José Clean Energy is the default electric generation service provider in the City of San José,' with GreenSource as the default product. The same page confirms PG&E remains delivery/billing: 'You will receive a single monthly bill from PG&E that includes all electricity related charges, including SJCE electric generation charges,' and 'PG&E will continue to charge for transmission, distribution, public goods programs and other non-generation charges.'
