A residential array qualifies if all energy generated is used on site, or the equipment is collocated with a net-energy-billing customer subscribed to at least 50% of the facility's output, or the energy is transmitted through facilities with a utility bill credit. Eligible equipment includes solar panels, racking/tracking hardware, inverters, batteries used to store panel-generated electricity, charge controllers, and related wiring — meters and grid-side equipment are not eligible. Equipment under construction and not yet operational on April 1 does not qualify for that tax year. The exemption must be claimed by filing a report with the local assessor.
